Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany, is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It's crossed by hundreds of canals, and also contains large areas of parkland.

The city of Hamburg is the second largest city of Germany. Hamburg is one of Germanys Free Hanseatic Cities, which has an area of 750 square kilometers, a population of around 1,8 million and more than 300,000 jobs in a variety of sectors.
Hamburg is a major European science, research, and education hub, with several universities and institutions. Among its most notable cultural venues are the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle concert halls. It gave birth to movements like Hamburger Schule and paved the way for bands including The Beatles. Hamburg is also known for several theatres and a variety of musical shows. St. Pauli's Reeperbahn is among the best-known European entertainment districts.
The Elbphilharmonie is the new landmark of Hamburg. The concert hall in the harbor city is located at the Elbe River and was finally completed in November 2016. It is one of the largest and most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world and its popular nickname is “Elphi”.
The new glassy construction resembles a hoisted sail, water wave or quartz crystal: It was built up on top of an old warehouse building near the historical Speicherstadt. The Elbphilharmonie is the tallest inhabited building in Hamburg, with a final height of 108 meters.
The Speicherstadt was built from 1883 to 1927 and is the largest warehouse district in the world. It is located in the harbor city. In July 2015 it was honored – as first site in Hamburg – as UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Jungfernstieg is an urban promenade in Hamburg. It is the city's foremost boulevard and directly located at the Alster. Large department stores like the well-known Alsterhaus, beautiful passages like the Hamburger Hof or the Europa passage and exclusive boutiques can also be found there.
Hamburg Town Hall was built from 1886 to 1897 and with its impressive architecture dominates the center of the city, near the Alster. It is an architectural and historical gem and a venue for prestigious events.
Also well-known as “Michel”, is the most famous church in Hamburg. St. Michael’s is a landmark of the city and it is considered to be one of the finest Hanseatic Protestant baroque churches. The 132-meter high Baroque spire totally covered with copper is a prominent feature of Hamburg’s skyline and has always been a landfall mark for ships sailing up the river Elbe.
St. Pauli’s Reeperbahn or “Kiez” is Hamburg’s red light pleasure mile and a center of attraction for locals and tourists alike. The Reeperbahn is not really a sightseeing attraction in the daytime, but comes alive when it gets dark with bars, pubs and clubs as well as a lively theatre and music scene. Located directly next to the “Davidwache” – Hamburg’s famous historic police station – the St. Pauli Theatre is the oldest theatre house in Hamburg. The Operetta House is situated at the end of the Reeperbahn and puts on successful musicals like “Mamma Mia” and “Sister Act”.
The Landungsbrücken “Landing Bridges“ are an important docking point for harbor ferries and excursion boats. These days the Landungsbrücken are a popular sightseeing attraction. Within close range of St. Pauli’s Landungsbrücken you will find souvenir shops, restaurants, snack stands, the entrance to the Old Elbe Tunnel and the museum boats “Rickmer Rickmers” and “Cap San Diego”.
